WHAT IS FILLER?

Close Up Woman Getting Lip Fillers 1

Filler is a gel-like substance that is injected under the skin or into the lips to enhance facial features and restore lost volume. They can be used to plump, contour, soften, and smooth in areas such as the cheeks, chin, lips, and nasolabial folds. Filler can also help to rejuvenate the hands and smooth under-eye hollows. The type of filler used at The Fix clinic is made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural substance in the body that attracts water to keep an area looking plump, supple, and hydrated. HA takes a gel form in filler and adds temporary volume when injected. Thus, HA filler is not a permanent treatment, and can last anywhere from six to 24 months depending on where it is placed. HA filler can be dissolved using Hyaluronidase.

Common types of filler used at The Fix Clinic include: Revanesse, Restylane, Juvederm, SkinVive, and RHA.

FAQs

Explore our Filler FAQs for in-depth insights into the condition, treatment options, and outcomes. We address common questions to ensure you’re well-informed and confident in your journey to better health with The Fix Clinic.

Who can receive filler at The Fix Clinic?

Filler is FDA approved for those 21 years of age and older.

At The Fix Clinic, filler is placed by extensively trained, highly skilled Board Certified Nurse Practitioners only.

The HA filler itself contains lidocaine so that numbing is given throughout the treatment as the filler is placed. For lip filler, a topical numbing agent is placed on the lips beforehand. Our skilled nurse practitioners utilize gentle and safe practices when placing all lip and dermal fillers.

The aesthetic for injectables at The Fix Clinic is one in which we utilize filler to enhance natural features, but maintain facial balance. Thus, we do not inject with the goal of overfilling any area and strive to add subtle, beautiful volume and rejuvenation with fillers. Furthermore, we inject the correct amount and type of filler for the natural looking enhancement we want to achieve.

It is normal to have some swelling and bruising with filler. It will take several days for the bruising and swelling to subside, if they occur. They do not occur for everyone and utilizing arnica or bromelain (the enzyme found in pineapple) after your treatment can help mitigate bruising and swelling faster.  You can expect your treated areas to be fully healed around two to three weeks after your treatment.

The frequency of re-treating with filler is different for everyone. In general, filler can last 6 to 24 months, depending on how quickly your tissue metabolizes it and which area was treated.
